What information does the recipient need for a money transfer to Venezuela?
For a transfer to Venezuela, the recipient only needs to share a few recipient details: full name, ID number, account number and, optionally, a phone number. This guide shows what to ask for before sending money with Fonmoney, and what to watch out for.
The recipient's full name
The name must match the Cédula de Identidad exactly, including accents and both surnames if applicable. Even one wrong letter can cause the bank to reject the transfer.
Cédula de Identidad or passport
Venezuelans identify themselves with their Cédula de Identidad. If the recipient lives abroad, a passport number is usually enough. If in doubt, ask the bank directly which document it requires.
The 20-digit account number
A Venezuelan bank account has 20 digits: bank code (4 digits), branch code (4 digits), account type (2 digits) and the actual account number (10 digits). The bank code identifies the institution — for example, 0102 for Banco de Venezuela. You'll find the full list of banks and codes in our guide Which banks in Venezuela can I transfer money to?
Phone number for Pago Móvil
The recipient's phone number is optional, but useful: through Pago Móvil, they get an instant notification and can use the money as soon as it arrives.
